Product overview

The in-between vial size, for sessions that fall between 100 and 200 units

Nabota 150UI is an uncommon presentation, and that is precisely its usefulness. Most toxin ranges jump from 100 units to 200, which leaves a gap: a treatment plan needing 120 or 140 units either requires opening two 100 U vials or wasting a third of a 200 U one.

Because reconstituted product is single-patient use, that waste is real. A 150-unit vial fits treatment plans that combine full-face work with a modest amount of masseter or platysma — common in practice, awkward to stock for.

The formulation is identical to the 100 U and 200 U vials. The active substance — prabotulinumtoxinA — was the first Asian-manufactured botulinum toxin to gain United States FDA approval, marketed there as Jeuveau and in Europe and Canada as Nuceiva. Those are separate registrations from a Korean-market Nabota carton.

Fills the gap in the range

Sized for treatment plans between 100 and 200 units, where both standard vials leave you short or wasting product.

Published Phase III evidence

The active substance was studied in two identical randomised placebo-controlled trials in glabellar lines.

Practitioner-set dilution

A 150 U vial takes 3.75 mL to reach 4 units per 0.1 mL — one and a half times a 100 U vial.

Conventional formulation

Botulinum toxin type A with human serum albumin as stabiliser and sodium chloride for tonicity.

Day 0 Treatment administered
Days 1–3 Onset commonly reported
Day 30 Phase III efficacy endpoint
3–4 months Typical review interval
Retreatment As clinically indicated
Key features

Why practitioners choose Nabota 150UI

Matches the awkward middle session

Full-face treatment plus moderate masseter or platysma work commonly lands between 110 and 150 units — more than one 100 U vial, less than a 200 U one.

Less product written off

Reconstituted toxin is single-patient use. Choosing a vial size that matches the plan means less of it going into the sharps bin.

A published Phase III record

Two identical randomised, placebo-controlled trials of the active substance in glabellar lines reported day-30 responder rates of 67.5% and 70.4% against placebo.

Same formulation across the range

100 U, 150 U and 200 U are the same product in different fills, so switching size changes nothing clinically.

Indications & Treatment Areas

Aesthetic & therapeutic applications

The approved indication for the active substance is set out first. The remaining areas are commonly treated in practice, but approval status differs between markets — always work from the prescribing information registered where you practise.

Glabellar lines (frown lines)

Temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with corrugator and/or procerus muscle activity in adults. This is the indication under which the active substance holds international approval.

Full-face treatment plans

Glabella, forehead and lateral canthal lines together typically account for 50 to 70 units, which is where the 150-unit vial starts to make sense as a single-session choice.

Moderate masseter or platysma work

Adding lower-face contouring to a full-face plan is what commonly pushes a session past 100 units. Approval status varies widely by country and this is frequently a practitioner-led application.

Lateral canthal lines (crow's feet)

Lines at the outer eye produced by orbicularis oculi activity. Widely treated in aesthetic practice, though not covered by the US approval of the partner brand.

A note on scope

Botulinum toxin products are prescription-only medicines. Any use outside the indications approved in your jurisdiction is a clinical decision made by the treating practitioner under their own professional judgement and local regulatory framework. Korea Filler Experts supplies the product; nothing here should be read as a recommendation to treat any medical condition.

Reading the carton

Before you accept a delivery, check four things:

  • The lot / batch number on the carton matches the number printed on the vial label.
  • The expiry date leaves you enough working life — we do not dispatch stock with under 6 months remaining unless agreed in advance.
  • The flip-off cap is intact and the vial seal has not been disturbed.
  • The carton arrived cold, with the coolant pack still chilled.

Check the unit count on the carton. 150 U cartons sit alongside 100 U and 200 U in most fridges and are easy to confuse at a glance — worth confirming before you calculate a dilution.

What each component does

  • Botulinum toxin type A — the active substance. It temporarily reduces the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, lowering activity in the injected muscle.
  • Human serum albumin — stabilises the toxin protein through freeze-drying, storage and reconstitution.
  • Sodium chloride — brings the reconstituted solution to a tonicity suitable for injection.
How to use

How to prepare and use Nabota 150UI

Reference information for licensed practitioners. Diluent volumes for a 150-unit vial are one and a half times those of a 100-unit vial to reach the same concentration. Reconstitution and administration must follow the prescribing information approved in your market.

Step by step

  1. Confirm the unit count first

Check the carton says 150 U before anything else. The 100, 150 and 200 unit cartons look similar, and the dilution differs for each.

  2. Bring the vial to working condition

Take the vial from refrigerated storage and inspect the label, lot number and expiry date. Confirm the flip-off cap is intact.

  3. Calculate the diluent volume

A 150 U vial needs 3.75 mL to reach 4 units per 0.1 mL. Using the 100 U figure of 2.5 mL would give 6 units per 0.1 mL.

  4. Introduce the diluent slowly

Insert the needle at an angle and let the vacuum draw the saline in. Direct the stream against the vial wall rather than onto the powder.

  5. Mix gently

Rotate the vial slowly to dissolve the cake. Do not shake vigorously. The solution should be clear, colourless and free of particulates.

  6. Record and use promptly

Note the reconstitution date and time on the vial, store at 2–8 °C, and use within the period stated in your approved prescribing information.

Dilution reference

Diluent added Units per 0.1 mL Total volume
1.5 mL 10.0 U 1.5 mL
1.875 mL 8.0 U 1.875 mL
3.0 mL 5.0 U 3.0 mL
3.75 mL 4.0 U 3.75 mL
6.0 mL 2.5 U 6.0 mL
7.5 mL 2.0 U 7.5 mL

Administration notes

This vial size is the easiest to get wrong. Because 150 U is uncommon, the habit of reaching for 2.5 mL is strong — and on a 150 U vial that gives 6 units per 0.1 mL rather than 4. Confirm the carton before you draw the saline.

Materials needed: preservative-free 0.9% sterile saline, a sterile syringe with a fine-gauge needle, gloves and alcohol swabs. None of these are supplied with the vial.

  • Units of botulinum toxin are product-specific. Do not convert or substitute units between brands.
  • Dose per site, total dose and injection technique must follow the prescribing information approved in your market.
  • Draw reconstituted product immediately before injection.
  • Treatment intervals should not be shortened below the minimum stated in the prescribing information.

After treatment

  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area for at least 24 hours
  • Stay upright and avoid lying down for 4 to 6 hours
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours
  • Avoid saunas, hot tubs and excessive sun exposure for at least 24 hours
  • Mild redness, swelling or bruising can occur and usually settles within a few days
Storage & handling

Storing and handling Nabota 150UI

Unopened vial

Store refrigerated at 2–8 °C in the original carton, protected from light. Do not freeze. Shelf life is up to 36 months from manufacture.

If you stock more than one Nabota size, keep them physically separated in the fridge — the cartons are easy to confuse.

After reconstitution

Keep at 2–8 °C and use within the period specified in your approved prescribing information. Single-patient use only.

Cold chain on arrival

Transfer stock into a monitored medical refrigerator on arrival and keep a temperature log. If a shipment arrives warm, photograph the packaging and contact us before putting it into clinical service.

Handling and shipping note

Do not use the vial if the powder is discoloured, if the reconstituted solution is cloudy or contains particles, if the expiry date has passed, or if the cold chain is known to have been broken. Dispose of unused product and used vials as clinical waste in line with local requirements.

FAQ

Nabota 150UI — frequently asked questions

What is Nabota 150UI?

Nabota 150UI is a botulinum toxin type A product manufactured by Daewoong Pharmaceutical in South Korea, supplied as a sterile freeze-dried powder in a single 150-unit vial and reconstituted with preservative-free 0.9% sodium chloride before injection by a licensed practitioner.

Why would I choose 150 units over 100 or 200?

Because a lot of treatment plans land between the two. Full-face work plus moderate masseter or platysma treatment commonly needs 110 to 150 units — more than one 100 U vial, but opening a 200 U vial means discarding a third of it, since reconstituted product is single-patient use.

How much saline does a 150 U vial need?

3.75 mL to reach 4 units per 0.1 mL — one and a half times what a 100 U vial takes. This is the most common error with this size, because 2.5 mL is such an ingrained habit. On a 150 U vial, 2.5 mL gives 6 units per 0.1 mL.

Is the formulation the same as the other sizes?

Yes — same active substance, same excipients, same manufacturer. Only the fill quantity differs.

Is Nabota the same as Jeuveau?

The active substance is the same — prabotulinumtoxinA — approved in the United States as Jeuveau and in Europe and Canada as Nuceiva. Those are separate registrations. A Korean-market Nabota carton is not the FDA-approved, US-labelled article.

Can I substitute Nabota units for another brand's units?

No. Units of botulinum toxin are specific to each product and are not interchangeable between brands. Dosing must be taken from the prescribing information for the product in your hand.

What shelf life will my stock have?

We do not dispatch stock with less than six months of remaining shelf life unless you have specifically agreed to it. If you need a particular expiry window, tell us before you order and we will allocate accordingly.

What happens if my shipment arrives warm?

Do not use it. Photograph the outer box, the insulated liner, the coolant packs and the vial carton, and contact us the same day with your order number. We will review the cold-chain evidence and arrange a replacement where the failure occurred in transit.

Who is allowed to buy this product?

Botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine. Purchase and use are restricted to licensed healthcare professionals qualified to prescribe or administer injectable prescription medicines in their jurisdiction, with appropriate training in the relevant anatomy and injection technique. We do not sell to consumers.
