What each component does
Semaglutide
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. GLP-1 is a gut hormone involved in appetite and in how the stomach empties. The medicine is used together with diet and physical activity.
The full list of excipients is in the patient leaflet supplied with the pen.
How it works
Semaglutide mimics GLP-1, a hormone that acts on appetite centres in the brain and slows the emptying of the stomach. Together with diet and physical activity, this is how the medicine is used to reduce excess body weight.
