Rejeunesse: hyaluronic acid fillers from NewMedic
Rejeunesse is a range of non-animal, cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers from NewMedic Co, Ltd., a South Korean company. NewMedic describes a proprietary purification process called UPHEC, which it says keeps endotoxin below 1.2 EU/mL and leaves no detectable BDDE cross-linker in the finished gel.

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar found naturally in skin, where it binds water. In a filler it is cross-linked so that it lasts longer than natural HA before the body breaks it down. Assess and consent
Review medical history, allergies (including to lidocaine), medication, bleeding risk, previous fillers and the patient’s goals. Explain the expected result, the risks and the possibility of needing hyaluronidase.

Choose the product
Select Fine, Deep or Shape according to the area, depth and result needed, following the instructions for use.

Prepare the skin
Remove make-up and cleanse. Mark the treatment area and apply topical anaesthetic if required.

Inspect the syringe
Check the packaging, seal and expiry. Use the sterile needle supplied or a needle or cannula recommended in the instructions for use.

Inject as taught
Fine is injected into the upper dermis, Deep into the mid-to-deep dermis and Shape into the deep dermis or subcutaneous layer, using the technique in the instructions for use and your training. Inject slowly and with low pressure, and stop at once if the patient reports unexpected pain or you see blanching.

Review
Assess the result, mould gently if the technique requires it, and plan any review according to the product’s duration. Volume effects are visible straight after injection.
Administration notes
Know the risks of the area. Filler can cause vascular occlusion. Practitioners should know the anatomy of the area, recognise the signs early and have hyaluronidase and an emergency protocol immediately available.
The eye area needs specific training. Periorbital lines and crow’s feet carry greater risk and should only be treated by practitioners trained for them.

- Do not inject into infected, inflamed or broken skin.
- Do not use in patients allergic to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine.

- Avoid strenuous exercise, heat, saunas and alcohol for about 24 to 48 hours
- Seek urgent review for severe pain, blanching, skin colour change, visual change or a lump that grows or becomes tender
Storing and handling Rejeunesse
Store between 2 °C and 25 °C. Do not freeze or heat the product.
Keep the syringe in its original sterile packaging until use. Check the seal and expiry. Shelf life is 24 months from manufacture; check the batch label.
Single patient, single session. Discard the syringe and needle after use.
Do not use if the packaging is damaged or the expiry date has passed. Dispose of used syringes and needles as clinical waste in line with local requirements.
