Description
Neuronox 100UI — Botulinum Toxin Type A
Neuronox 100UI is Medytox’s original botulinum toxin type A formulation, first approved by Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2006. It was the first botulinum toxin brand developed and marketed in Korea. Medytox now sells it in more than 60 countries under several names, including Meditoxin, Botulift, Cunox, and Siax.
Medytox was founded by scientists from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). They worked with the same Clostridium botulinum Hall A-hyper strain used to develop Allergan’s original Botox. Published genetic analysis has confirmed this shared strain origin, a distinction that sets Neuronox apart from several other Korean toxin brands.

Mechanism of Action
Neuronox blocks neuromuscular transmission by binding to acceptor sites on motor nerve terminals. Once inside the nerve terminal, it cleaves SNAP-25, a protein essential for releasing acetylcholine from nerve endings. Because this release no longer occurs normally, the treated muscle experiences partial, localized denervation. As a result, muscle activity in that area decreases. This smooths the overlying skin’s dynamic wrinkles.
Preparation & Dilution
Reconstitute Neuronox with 0.9% sodium chloride injection, then mix gently by swirling the vial rather than shaking it.

Treatment Areas
- Glabellar frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet
- Platysmal neck bands (“turkey neck”)
- Masseter, temporalis, calf, and deltoid muscle reduction for contouring
- Hyperhidrosis of the palms, calves, armpits, and thighs
Dosage & Technique
The exact dosage and number of injection sites should reflect each patient’s muscle size, location, and the severity of the condition being treated. Neuronox is often used at a 1:1 dosing ratio with Botox. Because of this, practitioners familiar with Botox protocols can generally apply similar dosing when switching to Neuronox. Even so, a qualified practitioner should always confirm the appropriate plan for each patient.
